BACKGROUND
Russell started his career in 2007 after qualifying as a Sound Engineer. Recording audio on location was his first job in the industry and he soon moved onto operating video cameras and managing media on Avid video editing systems. He worked as a video editor on a popular sports TV series in 2008 and 2009 and as video editor and insert producer in 2012 and 2013 on environmental news TV programme 50|50.
In 2016 Russell launched his own media production facility and currently works on Final Cut Pro X and operates video cameras on a wide array of productions.

Russell is very hard-working and reliable taking his deadlines seriously and meeting them without fault. Russell is an accomplished and skilled editor. He follows processes diligently and is well organised. He is also a team player and gets on well with everybody. Russell has also played a role in mentoring trainee producers and taken on additional roles on the show where necessary including field director, cameraman and insert producer. Russell produced several inserts for the programme independently and his delivered product was always of a high standard.
Russell is a hard working, ambitious, talented young man. Working as an insert director and editor on Flash - a local celebrity entertainment show on SABC 3, Russell has shown willingness to be a team player and his eagerness to help wherever he can made him an integral part of the Flash team.
His role as both insert director and editor was invaluable as we depended on him to not only have an acute understanding of the show, but be able to direct the insert shoots with the foresight to be able to edit them within the very strict creative criteria set for Flash.
He is familiar with both Avid and Final Cut Pro edit systems, and was responsible for editing, supervising final mix, and deliverables on several of our TV series. He supervised workflow from media capture to final delivery, ensuring timeous delivery of all episodes with their Final Control paperwork. Russell is extremely dedicated, loyal and hardworking. He is patient, detailed and meticulous and takes ownership of whatever projects he works on. I have no hesitation recommending Russell as an outstanding editor and wish him well for his career going forward.
